Job Description

Leading manufacturer of products for the aerospace industry is seeking an experienced Buyer for their Long Island location. Our client offers top benefits and room for career development and advancement. 

Responsibilities of the Buyer include source selection and procurement functions directly associated with company needs for production and indirect materials and services.
 

   Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.


•         Commitment to the Company’s policies, principles, and procedures and adheres to the Company’s procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline/corrective action, and security.


•          Management of the procurement process from receipt of purchase requisition through receipt of inspected material.


•         Prepare and issue request for quotation.  Solicit price, delivery and technical proposals.


•         Evaluate and negotiate quotations and proposals.


•         Enter and maintain purchase orders and change orders.  Perform administrative tasks as they relate to job function (eg: MRR’s, IDR’s, shippers, invoice reconciliation, alternate requests, over shipments, exception messages, etc).


•         Update and maintain item and supplier data within MRP (eg: material lead-times, minimum quantities, ship dates, codes, etc).


•         Capitalize on cost savings opportunities within the constraints of DDC’s MRP and Inventory control systems.


•         Keep abreast of market conditions and opportunities (eg: obsolescence, allocation, alternate lower cost supplies, supplier financial conditions).

•         Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.


•         Skill in data entry with minimal errors.


•         Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Educational / Experience  Qualifications:


•         High school diploma required.


•         Bachelor's Degree Preferred.


•         2 - 5 years relevant work experience required.


•         Any combination of education, training and experience listed above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
