Job Description


 Our client is a leading global manufacturer that develops and manufactures products for animal health. The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the engineering and maintenance function including the provision of quality, timely and cost effective maintenance & facilities management services and the execution of the approved Capital Plan ensuring the capital program is completed on time and within budget.  This manager reports to the Site Head at the facility.
 
The Engineering and Maintenance  Manager is responsible for the supervision of the engineering and maintenance staff that supports the daily operations of the facility, including process engineering, project engineering, and facilities maintenance operations. The Engineering and Maintenance  Manager is also responsible for the productivity and development of the employees with the purpose of ensuring that reliable and compliant equipment and systems are used in the manufacturing process. Additionally, the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, as part of the site lead team, partners with all site functional disciplines to support the site technical agenda, business plan priorities, and compliance plan objectives.

Functions, Duties, Tasks:

Site Lead team member – 
Demonstrate Safety leadership, Drive the culture of safety first - quality always
Strong partnership and influence with Operations, QA/QC, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, and other leadership areas.
Participation in Lead Team, metrics, Site reviews, Business Planning and own functional content
Lead and support site and community engagement
 
Administrative Leadership – 
Supervise and coach process engineering staff, including setting team goals, completing performance reviews and establishing development plans
Manage staffing including recruiting, resource planning, and succession planning
Review and monitor financial performance, commit to meeting targets
Identify training requirements and develop the skill-set within the engineering group to support existing and new technologies
Oversee the security function for the site
Work effectively as a member of the site leadership team
Operational Excellence –
Demonstrate a commitment to environmental, health, and safety
Develop a safety awareness culture within the engineering team, ensure risks to employee health and safety are rigidly controlled and complete duties in compliance with the Company’s Environmental Health and Safety procedures
Identify, track, and report key indicators of functional performance
Remove barriers that impact team performance
Play a leading role in ensuring that team members and all Engineering procedures and processes are in compliance with applicable Regulations, Good Engineering Standards, Global Quality Standards and Engineering Standards and other relevant specific corporate directives
Develop KPIs that drive continuous improvement in the performance of services provided

Requirements for the Engineering and Maintenance Manager include:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Scientific, or Technical Field
5 years’ experience in a similar role such as Maintenance and/or Engineer Manager, TSMS Manager, and Quality Manager in a regulated manufacturing facility

Experience in Equipment Reliability, Commissioning, Qualification, and Capital Project management
Ability to manage projects within an agreed time schedule and budget
Knowledge of the principles and guidelines of CFR 9 and the USDA
Knowledge of freeze drier, fermentation, and fill line technologies preferred
Understanding of validation activities associated with vaccine process, technology transfer and process validation a plus

Exposure to Lean -Six sigma principles
