Job Description

Our client is a metal fabrication operation, primarily doing work for the automotive industry.  They need to add an Estimator to their team because of growth within the company.  This position plays an integral role in supporting new business opportunities with customers, including the review of customer requests for quotations (RFQ) to determine the manufacturing process to produce the parts and develop the associated cost structure.  These estimates are based on customer supplied part prints, customer defined critical characteristics, and other customer specific requirements. The estimates will also include costs for labor, materials, tooling, gauges, fixturing and special equipment. 
 
DUTIES:
  • Define the process steps required to produce a part to customer supplied print specifications, capability requirements and customer specific requirements.
  • Develop the processing cost and all costs for tooling, fixturing, gauges and special equipment required to produce parts.
  • Determine if existing equipment capacity is sufficient.
  • Complete all requests for quotations on-time, including all supporting documentation.
  • Support the engineering team in creating and changing process documentation and detailed process descriptions as needed. 
  • Analyze existing process cycle times and production efficiencies, and recommend opportunities for improvement to increase throughput and enhance quality performance.
  • This position will also require evaluation of processes and production efficiencies done through both shop floor evaluation and data analysis.           
 Requirements:
  • You must understand metals processing and pricing to the cost of manufacturing
  • Associates degree and 3 years’ experience in metal parts manufacturing or related industries, 5 years if no degree
  • You must be detail oriented, self-reliant and flexible because this company's business changes at a moments notice
  • Able to read and understand blue prints, including the metric system and application of GD & T
  • Understanding and knowledge of the major processes utilized in the metal parts manufacturing industries.
  • Able to define a manufacturing process based upon a customer part print.
  • Experience with the automotive industry.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral and computer skills.
  • CAD knowledge helpful.
