JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for continuous improvement by applying Lean & 5S principles within a CNC / Swiss CNC job shop operation. Using Value Stream Maps and other Lean tools engaging all levels and functions of the shop floor to improve efficiency and reduce costs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop Value Stream Maps or Process Maps to identify improvement opportunities for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost for all customers. 
  • Apply a wide range of Lean, Six Sigma and Industrial Engineering methods and tools to develop and implement process improvements
  • Identify, plan and lead Kaizen initiatives primarily focused on CNC / Swiss CNC machining.
  • Instruct and coach Lean Six Sigma topics in support of improvement projects.
  • Build effective working relationships throughout the site, interact with shop floor supervisors, associates and plant management to meet objectives.
  • Designs facility layout alternatives
  • Conducts root causes analysis to address specific process or quality problems
  • Implements mistake-proofing controls to maintain or improve process quality
  • Develops SOP’s, work instructions, and other quick reference material as needed
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Industrial Engineering or closely related engineering discipline preferred. 
Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. Black Belt certification is preferred.
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of applicable work experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Experienced in Value Stream Mapping, facilitating Kaizen events
  • Demonstrated hands-on practical use of Lean principles, methods and tools to eliminate waste, improve productivity, increase customer value and reduce costs.
  • Demonstrated use of Six Sigma methods and tools to eliminate defects, reduce variability, and improve quality.
Required Skills
  • Strong Value Stream Mapping and process analysis skills
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with demonstrated successes
  • Familiar with Structured problem solving (DMAIC, Shainin, RCCM, etc) to effectively lead problem investigation and resolution
  • Understands manufacturing metrics as they align to Process Improvement initiatives
  • Able to use statistical analysis software in Excel.
