Our client is a growing manufacturer located in the Chicago suburbs, seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their growing team. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing methods/processes to deliver high quality products in a cost-effective manner and to ensure that the manufacturing department and engineering group work together effectively. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is also responsible for specifying appropriate equipment to facilitate the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
  • Creates a "safety first" work environment
  • Manages a team to ensure that all Manufacturing Engineering goals are met, provides feedback regularly to the team, and investigates and takes corrective actions if performance goals are not being met (i.e. cost savings, method creation, accurate and updated records, fixture development)
  • Promotes a Lean manufacturing culture and utilizes Lean manufacturing tools to improve employee safety, processes and reduce costs
  • Analyzes and designs Lean manufacturing cells and assists in developing the plant layout in planning the arrangement of facilities and equipment for optimal use of space
  • Responsible for ensuring that vendors/subcontractors are manufacturing products according to specifications and participates in the selection of new vendors
Requirements for Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, Master's preferred
  • 8 or more years of experience working directly with manufacturing processes (build to print and new product development) and successfully leading the Manufacturing Engineering function in a low volume, high mix environment
  • Lean Certification or Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to lead an engineering team
