Job Description

Our client is a well established manufacturer of metal automotive components--They have an immediate need for a Quality Engineer with 2 years of manufacturing background.


•         Lead continuous improvement activities that target the elimination of waste and enhance the overall quality system to reduce internal defects and external customer complaints

•         Troubleshoot part specific problems and system related issues utilizing problem-solving techniques (ie. 8D methodology, 6 sigma, DOE, 5 why, Shanin, etc.)

•         Drive manufacturing process improvements using statistical process control techniques

•         Support APQP process through review and update of PFMEA, control plans, work instructions, and other quality system documentation

•         Improve error and mistake proofing (poke-yoke) methods by working closely with manufacturing and quality teams

•         Perform gage R&R studies and participate in metrology activities as necessary

•         Participate in new program launches as quality representative at all stages of the programs

•         Perform Internal Audits in accordance with TS-16949 and customer specific requirements

•         Develop and implement OEE Action Plans

•         Train Setters, Certify and Document

•         Model cooperation and teamwork

•         Participate in problem solving/cross functional teams

•         Train Machine Operators on Gaging

•         Ensure products conforms to quality standards

•         Ensures manufacturing practices are current, consistent and compliant with GSS Policies and Procedures, all external state/federal regulations and customer requirements

•         Record Quality Issues (NCR's and CAPA's)

•         Complete Daily  Quality and Layered Quality Audits

•         Complete monthly audits

•         Create, review and approve WPI's

•         Identify and manage Quality Issues

•         Reinforce 5S (housekeeping) behaviors

•         Develop action plans reference scrap

•         Ensure a safe working environment

•         Police PPE procedures

Experience and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Engineering or Quality Skills
  • Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment (automotive related experience preferred)
  • Proficient in the use of statistical process control software (Minitab preferred)
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills (Microsoft applications)
