Job Description

Growing pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to direct Automation projects at their location near Buffalo, NY. This position will be responsible for providing the managerial and technical expertise necessary to direct the efforts of a project team and to support other project teams.  The project team consists of contractors from various crafts as well as members of department as assigned.  Responsibilities include analysis, recommendation, implementation, cost justification and follow-up on projects designed to increase or improve productivity, capacity, or safety.

Candidates for the Senior Project Engineer - Automation position will have:
  • Must have a BS preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering or other similar disciplines.
  • Must have at least 5-years manufacturing, OEM or System Integration experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years hands on experience specifying, configuring and troubleshooting PLC based control systems.
  • Must have at least 5 years hands on experience specifying, configuring and troubleshooting Operator Interfaces and SCADA systems.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience specifying, configuring and troubleshooting instrumentation
  • Must possess expert knowledge in either Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) or Siemen Programing software. Familiarity with both is highly desired.
  • Experience with the following software Studio 5000, RSLogix500, FT View SE, FT View ME, TIA Portal, Step 7 Classic, PCS 7, Proficy iFix, SQL Server, Visual Studio.
  • Experienced with Virtualization of existing computerized systems and creation and maintenance of new Virtual Machines in the VMWare/VSphere Environment.
  • Familiarity with most common industrial networks is highly desired. (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, DeviceNet, ASI, ModBus TCP/IP)
  • Experience with Industrial Data Collection, Visualization and Reporting Software is highly desirable.
  • Experience of integrative solution for track and trace packaging line equipment and serialization solutions is highly desirable.
  • Experience with VFDs, Vision Systems and Servos is highly desired.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Robots with multiple axis of coordinated motions is highly desired.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems is desired.(Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider)
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCad or SolidWorks
  • Must be familiar with State, Federal and local codes.
  • Must have a good understanding of budgeting and cost control.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and set priority for himself/herself as well as team members
  • Desirable to have Project Management experience in a food, pharmaceutical or regulated environment.
  • Six Sigma Training a plus
