Job Description

Solid manufacturing client of ours is in need of a Sr. Project Engineer.  Ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background.  Here is the job summary:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designs new product and technologies and makes improvements to the existing ones
  • Leads medium to large size R&D projects.
  • Focus on FEA analysis and validation design.
  • Build and test prototypes.
  • Create 2D and 3D finite element models from existing CAD files.
  • Run finite element modeling and check design feasibility. In electrical, electro-magnetic, mechanical, thermal and multiphysics environment.
  • Participate in acceleration of the new product development projects.
  • Compare test data with calculations.
  • Write reports for summarizing the analysis results.
  • Work with other members of cross functional team.
  • Create CAD models, drawings and sketches as necessary.
  • Create test plan and responsible for completion of inside and outside test programs.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity as required.
  • Evaluates parts and processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting on the new and existing products and processes
  • Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
  • Develop schedules, coordinate and manage projects of minor to major size with little to no supervision.
  • Interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.
  • Consult with Customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications when design or manufacturing problems are involved
  • Prepare budgetary and resource information regarding projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.


  • Ability to use small hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to create and bring forth and present innovative designs.
  • Proven experience with project management, team management, root-cause analysis and computer analysis programs (FEA, Matlab, Excel)
  • Experience with COMSOL software preferable.
  • Knowledge of PRO-E or other 3-D CAD systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced FEA skills, like transient analysis.
  • Able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization with customer
  • Able to read and interpret technical standards
  • Able to write technical documents, like test reports, engineering standards and technical papers.
  • Wide degree of creativity
  • High degree of initiative to finish tasks on time
  • Drive to learn new methodologies

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,
  • 5+ years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development.
